Portfolios

A visual journey through galleries of my work from the 1970s through the 2010s. Each portfolio contains 10-15 images.

Images, some contemplated, others unplanned — street photography, right place - right time, some with a dose of Hunter S. Thompson. Shot 1970s-1990s, all on film, most on Kodak Tri-X.

Photographing people fulfilled me like no other genre. Every face — young, old, beautiful, wizened, windswept — I learned to fall in love with the subject in front of me, whether I had five minutes with them or five hours.

For a brief moment, Cape Breton Island made me think I could be the next Ansel Adams. Then commercial work kicked in and I didn't shoot a landscape again for twenty years — not until aerial cinematography pulled me back into the natural world in the early 2000s.

Fashion work — late 1970s through early 1990s. A gazillion model portfolios, tests, and fashion assignments, almost all studio work shot at one of my Charlotte studios: West Morehead Street, South Tryon Street, or North College Street. Plenty of location work too, on the North and South Carolina beaches and in Charleston.

Aerials gave me a break from the studio — though few clients could budget for a helicopter. My transition to aerial cinematography allowed me to explore landscapes from a unique perspective in over thirty countries.
